3 Stringless Paving Meets The Challenge On Van Dyke
Concrete reconstruction of a three-mile boulevard section of Van Dyke (M-53) from just south of 15 Mile Road to the
18 Mile Road intersection in Sterling Heights began in February and it will be completed by the end of 2016. Dan’s
Excavating, Inc., of Shelby Township is the prime contractor for the project.
5 Challenges Addressed On Roundabout Project
Construction of an approximately $5.5 million roundabout on M-11 at Wilson Avenue and Remembrance Road in the
city of Walker, Ottawa County and Kent County began in April and it was expected to be completed in August.
7 Muskegon’s Henry Street Receives Concrete Inlay
A one-half mile section of Henry Street from Sherman Boulevard to Hackley Avenue in Muskegon has been
upgraded with a concrete inlay. The project began in May and it was completed in July.
8 MDOT Implements Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design
A design process called mechanistic-empirical pavement design is being used by the Michigan Department of
Transportation (MDOT) for the first time this year.
